Enlightenment Period and the Scientific Revolution Essay The relationship between the development of the Enlightenment Period and the Scientific Revolution was that the Scientific Revolution was an aspect of the Enlightenment on a whole. The Scientific Revolution helped in the process of the Enlightenment by bringing new advances in areas such as Nicolas Copernicus and his new theory that would soon discarded the old geocentric theory that placed the Earth at the center of the solar system and replaced it with a heliocentric theory in which the Earth was simply one of a number of planets orbiting the sun. Another great advancement during the Scientific Revolution was in the field of astronomy. Johannes Kepler proved the orbits of the planets were elliptical, but was unable to come up with an effective model of the solar system. That was left to Galileo, who in 1630 published his Dialogue on the Two Chief Systems of the World, in which he supported the Copernican, or heliocentric theory of the universe, and denounced the Aristotelian system, which maintained the geocentric theory. Galileo supported his claims with elaborate evidence derived from the study of physics. Also the achievements made in mathematics and physics were revolutionary. In the form of the development of algebra, trigonometry, the advance of geometry and the linkage of form and motion with quantifiable numeric values undertaken by Rene Descartes. Armed with these tools, the science of physics began to advance rapidly. The primary concepts changing social mores marked the beginning of the Enlightenment, as individualism, which stressed the importance of the individual and his rights as a citizen. Relativism, which was the concept that different ideas, cultures, beliefs, and value systems had equal merit. And rationalism, which was the conviction that using the power of reason, humans could arrive at truth and make progress toward improving human life. These views gained widespread adherence in the wake of the Scientific Revolution, the Age of Exploration, the weakening of traditional religion, and the decline of monarchical rule. All of these trends served to prepare Europe for the Enlightenment period. One key achievement during the Scientific Revolution was John Lockes writings of the (Second Treatise on Civil Government) Lockes writing argued that a government run by the people was the beast system for us to live by. Lockes writings remain as fresh and popular today as when he wrote them in 1688. Another key achievement during the Scientific Revolution was Sir Isaac Newtons theories on astronomy that went a step further and formulated an  accurate comprehensive model of the workings of the universe based on the law of universal gravitation. Newton explained his theories in the 1687 revolutionary work called simply the Principia. This work also went along way toward developing calculus. The difference in the perspective of Catholics and Protestants during the Enlightenment was very little. Both cults felt that any idea or ideals that might elevate man to a level of self realization or thinking that might deviate from that of the church views was both dangerous and unholy. In response to this, the church ordered genocide and mass torture upon those who it deemed outside of gods word. Self Discovery in Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment and Camus' The Outsider      Ã‚  Ã‚   In every society, it is important for individuals to adhere to a set of principles in order to maintain order. In Dostoyevsky's Crime and Punishment and Camus' The Outsider , however, both protagonists ignored the values of their society. Raskolnikov and Meursault felt their own beliefs were significant, and through their actions they were able to express them. As a result, one man was judged as a social deviant, while the other man suffered psychologically. Through dealing with this strife, Raskolnikov and Meursault gained a better understanding of their values and personal worth.      Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚   In the beginning both men rejected the fundamental values of society and formed their own ideologies. Raskolnikov, for instance, believed that "we have to correct and direct nature. But for that, there would never had been a single great man"1. In fact, he had written an article titled "The psychology of a criminal before and after the crime". It stated that 'ordinary' men live according to the law and exist only to reproduce the human race, yet 'extraordinary' men may break laws "if in his own conscience it is necessary to do so in order to better mankind"2. Raskolnikov believed that indeed, he was an "extraordinary man"3, but like Meursault, his beliefs were untested. As a result, he murdered an old pawnbroker women in order to prove himself. Meursault, as well, acted against the social norm. For example, even though it was expected of a son, he did not show sorrow at his mother's funeral4. He did not think this was shallow, however, he just refused to falsel... ... was finally able to declare them. Raskolnikov and Meursault were not afraid to cross the boundaries their societies had set for them. Brief History / Background of the Company / Company Profile The history of this Computer Shop is so inspiring for me because they start in a small business and for being industrious they build a lot of business that make them higher than a eagle. Before we start planning build a computer shop we decided to start selling Shirts, Footwear and some accessories we keep all the money we collect from our small business until we get a place where we can rent for our Computer Shop.We start making computer stands after hat we bought only three (3) Computers and we build our computer shop in the month of June year 2006. One day we start opening our small Computer Shop. Even though I have only here (3) Computers were not expecting that we can have our customers early in the morning even though our price per hour is Twenty Five Pesos (25). In one day we collect only three hundred fifty Pesos (350) but even though that money is too small for us, it is okay because it can help for our business to make It Big. He live in Nasugbu Batangas he is our helper until our Computer Shop becomes one year.We decided to name our Computer Shop and the name of it is Awoor Open Kalate Compuer Repair Shop, we decide to that name because we also repairs computer like Formatting and PC Assembling. This business is so amazing because it helps to give education to my children we continue managing our Computer Shop until we collect moneys o buy six (6) Computers so that we have a total of 13 Computers. We complete our computers in he year of 2011.We are so happy and thankful because we’re not expecting that our business will become long and then we add some small business like Master Shomai, Coco Prince add some, Fish Ball, Kikiam and Kwek Kwek Stall. In the year 2012 were not expecting that the small business we add will become large until we fund a lot helpers, like Michael Silang, Accelle Joy, Darwin Silang and John Paul Montales. I started in my OJT on month of July 07, 2012 and in this month of July I'm pretty well trained to work here because I worked here before and today I start to OJT I achieved like Hard disk drive of the computer is broken and for this work I replaced another Hard disk drive.I also have other achievement such as typing a very long story, laminate of ten pieces of ID pictures, Xerox of one piece of English book and of course all of this were done and completed. And month of August I also have other achievement like if the power supply of the computer is loss and for this work again I replaced another power supply and finally the power supply of the computer is working again.Throughout the month of august I also have other achievement like the ram or memory of the computer is not working for short it was loss and I did this it should be to clean up the memory using a pencil eraser to work it again. Month of August I am still typing a very long story of a parable, Xerox of ten pieces Diploma, ten pieces of Birth Certificate, ten pieces of Bio – Data and laminate five pieces of ID pictures and of course all of this were completed.And now in month of September I’m very happy because my supervisor was promote me to a computer assistant and this I recounted my parents that I was promoted to a computer assistant. I also have another achievement of this month of September like Xerox, printing, laminate and typing another long story of the parable that just as I had done previously. The last time that I’m attend in month of September 30, 2012 I stopped to attend the OJT because I’m very busy to make my project in my major subject and I also review my minor subject and major subject for this coming final exam.The month of November I will begin again to attend the OJT because now I have time to OJT because I`m not too busy in school and my supervisor was very glad because I was able to return to OJT again and I was very glad also. I made this month of November was reformatting ten pieces of computer on the other comp shop but it was owned by my supervisor and I made i t two days because relatively long after I reformat and Installed drivers and games of course I finished all do ten pieces of computer and it will be open to earn money.And this month of December I still did OJT and I experienced our Xerox machine was broken and exactly two man who want to undergo Xerox a whole book, and ten pieces of Bio – data and I do not know how to fix the Xerox machine and I call my supervisor to say that the Xerox machine is broken and my supervisor said wait for me to fix the Xerox machine and I told to the customer who want to undergo Xerox was not available but after a few minutes my supervisor came to his shop to fix it and I’m happy for that.I stopped again to attend the OJT and this was the Second time to stop to attend my OJT because that time was to prepare for Christmas and of course this was the day we have a family gathering together sometimes we just take along – together and that only occurs when there is an occasion like Chr istmas. I started again to attend my OJT because I`m not busy in my family and now I have time to attend my OJT and today I will do what should I do like Xerox five pieces of documents and PC assembling.Now I stopped again to attend my OJT and this is the Third time to stop to attend my OJT because today was New Year’s Day and I'm happy because this was the day we have a family gathering together again and of course we all have families complete and by twelve o'clock in the morning We watched fireworks in the sky and then we all eat together.And this month of January I started again to attend my OJT and I also achieved like formatting a computer, pc assembling, and I experienced our motherboard of the system unit were overheat and because it was broken and it was not available so I just replaced another motherboard for it to work again and I’m happy because the motherboard of the system unit was working so we can use it and now that the time of my OJT was near I spent my days only to complete my OJT and I was very glad because the seven months I spent hours on the comp shop I was fully finished my OJT.A. New knowledge, attitudes, and skills acquired The first that I had learned in the Awoor Open Kalate Computer Repair Shop is to be a hard working person and to be a responsible to all things that should I do. I also learned how to fix Xerox Machine and how to use it. It was so easy to Xerox but in my OJT experience it was so hard if there were a lot of papers to be done and I was so glad that I learn how to use it. I also applied at the Comp shop my knowledge in computer when I was high school. Sometimes it was so boring and tedious to have my OJT because I am lone and don’t have friends to talk but the only thing that I did was play some music and watching movies it was my doings when I am bored and tedious it was why don’t stop my OJT and to accomplish my goals in my life and I need to finish my OJT for my family. B. Theories actua lly seen in practice I realized that if there was an OJT was not so easy, tedious, made me being lazy I felt it when I am doing a lot or you had nothing to do but I made it by pushing myself to did my jobs and to push myself to be a hard working person.I also learned that in all aspects of problems there was a solution. I also push myself not to stop my OJT and not to stop to fix my problems that I encountered. Now, if I have a problems that I can’t solve I pursue to make it and to be successful to my OJT instead of giving up I will make my best to be a successful person. C. Feedback that can be given to the company or institution When I started my OJT my supervisor ask me that what I can do to his computer shop or if I know something about in computers.I said yes to my supervisor I have know something to computers and I said to my supervisor that if there was a thing that I didn’t know was to betray my supervisor and I said to my supervisor that I am fast learner. I a lso said to my supervisor that I can help more to his computer shop because I am getting better when I am doing something and practice for it and I am good in some jobs like typing some documents and repairing computers. I enjoy my OJT.In some doings I am compatible with my OJT because I had some ideas to help to my OJT and I experienced the others problems so my OJT was not so hard at all. D. Benefits gained The benefits that the trainee learns at the Awoor Open Kalate Computer Repair Shop are as follows: to be discipline at the work and to be responsible and intelligent, must always be on time, and to be patient with the customer should come. I started to my OJT I learned to be responsible to all aspects and to be diligent, hard working and of course to be friendly and patient.I promise to myself that I will not forget what I learned. I will remember it until I am alive and use it to all things that can apply because of you have this attitude you can recognize by others. We live in a time of uncertainty. One of which is financial uncertainty, which affects all Americans regardless of social economic status. According to the Congressional Budgeting Office the US national debt is on track to being equal 78% of the gross domestic product by the year 2024 (Trumbull). Social Security pay outs have neared a level that will soon be unsustainable without a significant increase in taxes. Corporate taxes are now close to 40%, and considered to be one of the highest tax rates in the world (Stone). Former U.S. representative John E. Linder stated that the corporate tax rate has forced many of our good paying manufacturing jobs to be relocated outside the country in order to stay competitive. Making it difficult for low wage earners to transition up in income and support their families like previous generations. The problem for the American job market could be resolved if it were not for the 15 trillion dollars remaining in off shore financial centers because of the high cost due to taxes when the money is repatriated. In addition to the corporate costs, taxes have driven 2 to 3 trillion dollars into an underground economy where no taxes are paid at all (Linder). Answer: Introduction: Homeostatic regulation of decreased body temperature is a vital aspect in maintaining a normal body temperature. Endothermic animals such as mammals are capable of maintaining a fairly constant body temperature of 37.5? C. The thermoregulatory centre located in the hypothalamus is responsible for controlling the body temperature. Two sets of thermoreceptors sends the impulse to the hypothalamus, core temperature is regulated by the receptors in the hypothalamus itself while the receptors in the skin monitor the temperature changes relevant to the external environment. Thus these both sets of information are essential to make appropriate adjustments (Liedtke, 2017). Adjustments in the body temperature are maintained by means of relaying of impulses by the hypothalamus to the various effectors. The responses to lowered body temperature cause the stimulation of the thermoregulatory centre that in turn is under the control of the autonomic nervous system and therefore involuntary respons es take place. In situations of extreme cold or decreased body temperature, hypothalamus triggers the response pertaining to the conservation of heat through stimulation of the heat conservation centre. However some of the responses pertinent to the low temperature leads to actual production of heat inside the body by a mechanism termed as thermogenesis whilst other responses include the conservation of heat. Hence depending upon the internal as well as external body temperature, a wide range of bodily responses occurs that render suitable adjustments in the body. The responses are all evident at the effectors. As response to low temperature the smooth muscles located in arteriole in the skin undergo vasoconstriction through contraction of the muscles. Due to this vasoconstriction less heat is transferred from the core to the bodily surface thereby maintaining the core temperature (Romanovsky, 2014). Chances of the extremities turning blue coupled with the feelings of cold and damag e due to frostbite might take place at this point. No sweat production occurs in response to decreased body temperature as the sweat gland effectors remain non-functional. Further changes occur as the erector pili muscles of the skin contract raising the hairs in the skin thereby trapping an insulating layer of warm, still air right by the side of the skin. In humans, this mechanism is not very prominent and leads to the formation of goose bumps. Repeated contraction and relaxation of the skeletal muscles causes shivering in response to lowered temperature whereby heat generation occurs as a result of friction and other metabolic reactions. The endocrine glands like adrenal and thyroid glands become active causing secretion of adrenaline and thyroxine respectively that in turn accentuates the metabolic rate in various tissues in the body particularly like that of liver thereby generating heat (Houdas Ring, 2013). Therefore the homeostatic regulation of decreased body temperature in volves the interactions and interplay of various bodily organs with the hypothalamus as the chief regulator. Normal carbohydrate digestion results in glucose being absorbed into the blood and elevating blood glucose levels. Cells need to glucose to allow the body to utilize the carbohydrate in this form thereby aiding in the functioning of several metabolic reactions along with the physiological mechanisms. Glucose is responsible for storing of energy in the form of adenosine tri phosphate (ATP) that takes part in majority of the cellular processes. By virtue of cellular respiration glucose may also be broken down into ATP that in turn is again capable of being readily taken up by the cells in order to carry out various functions. Moreover glucose is considered as the chief metabolic fuel for the brain tissue particularly as the number of ATP molecules produced as a result of per oxygen consumption when glucose is completely oxidized to CO2 is quite high. Furthermore, glucose is the only molecule that is capable of supplying ATP even in absence of oxygen through the anaerobic glycolysis pat hway (Brosnan, 1999). The homeostatic feedback system is responsible for regulating the elevated blood glucose levels that gets activated in response to such metabolic alterations in the body. Elevated blood glucose level is detected by the pancreas that leads to the secretion of insulin from the ? cells in response. Insulin allows for the body cells to take up more glucose while the bulk portion is taken up by the liver thereby converting and storing them into glycogen. Ultimately this leads to the lowering of the blood glucose and the pancreas receives the signal for inhibiting the secretion of insulin (Ariyachet et al., 2016). Insulin is characterized of having the blood sugar lowering effect and is therefore considered as a hypoglycemic factor and its hypoglycemic action is achieved in the following manner. Insulin increases the permeability of different tissues to glucose so as to facilitate transport of glucose from blood to tissues. It helps in utilization of glucose in the c ells by stimulating glycogenesis (formation of glycogen from glucose), lipogenesis (conversion of glucose to fat) and oxidation of glucose for yielding energy. Insulin also inhibits formation of glucose through glycogenolysis and neoglucogenesis in liver and its entry into the blood (Brereton et al., 2014). Thus the glucose regulation is carried out by the pancreas along with the glucose receptor cells that are responsible for maintaining the blood glucose concentration in conjunction with the endocrine tissues of the Islets of Langerhans that maintain the glucose levels by virtue of secreting the hormones. Vitamins and minerals are important for body system health. Calcium and vitamin D are essential in the maintenance of bone health. Sources of calcium include milk, cheese, curd, hard water, lime, dark green leaves, carrot, cabbage and others. Besides this, the sources of Vitamin D include fatty fishes and their liver oils, dairy products such as chicken, egg, milk, butter and others. Furthermore Vitamin D is synthesized by the body and produced in the skin by exposure to sunlight. Calcium is an important constituent of bones and teeth and is responsible for imparting hardness, strength and concrete like module to them. They occur in the matrices of bone, dental enamel, dentin and cementum mainly as rod or platelet shaped crystals of calcium hydroxyapatites and carbon apatites. Vitamin D promotes the mineralization and remodeling of bones by coordinating the actions of osteoblasts and osteoclasts in several ways. It enhances the retention and deposition of calcium in bones by inducing the synthesis of calcium binding proteins. It further stimulates the differentiation of osteoclasts and induces calcium carrier proteins in them enhancing bone resorption (Bouillon Suda, 2014). If there was a lack of either calcium or Vitamin d in the body, the bone health would suffer major consequences. Deficiency of Vitamin D would cause rickets in which malformation of bones take place in case of children and young, while osteomalacia would occur in adult where fragility of bones is common. Deficiency of calcium would have culminated in similar outcomes where tetany and dental decay would have been a common consequence characterized by neuromuscular hyperexcitability, muscle spasm, paresthesia (Zidenberg-Cherr, 2016).
